WE’RE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE 2022 COHORT OF SALFUNNI, WHO WILL BE TAKING ON THE EDINBURGH FRINGE THIS SUMMER!

This will be the 3rd cohort of aspiring comedians from the UK University with the longest running full-time comedy degree to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe.

You can read more about the first 2 projects and the 2020 group that sadly never made it to the fringe here.

Good news!

Claire Bounds from SalFUNNI 2020 is part of SalFUNNI 2022!

Charlotte Cropper from SalFUNNI 2019 is co-producing the SalFUNNI 2022 project as part of her internship at the New Adelphi Theatre.

This year we opened up the auditions to include English students… Welcome Beth Moore!

Meet the Team:

SalFUNNI 2022 is made up of 9 funny stand-ups, who will present an hour-long mixed bill show at the Edinburgh Fringe. From wordplay to whimsical, from dad to punk, there really is something for everyone to feast on at this comedy buffet.

THEY’VE GOT COMIC TALENT ON THE MENU SO FRESH; YOU COULD BRUSH YOUR TEETH WITH THEM:

Expect laughs at her own expense and ones at the nasty powers that be, with a dry and fiery sense of humour (2nd year English and Drama). @bethmperforms

A stand-up with no filter and a desire to shoehorn Dappy into every one of her sets (3rd year Comedy Writing and Performance). @claire_bounds_99

A dancer-turned-comic who is trading tap shoes for a microphone and shedding a sarcastic light on her day-to-day observations (3rd year Comedy Writing and Performance).

A Crawley man on a mission to get a real stand-up quote and be able to write a decent comedy bio (2nd year Comedy Writing and Performance).

Expect dad jokes and a “Right! Let’s rock and roll!” from the co-producer of student comedy night “Tits and Giggles” (3rd year Comedy Writing and Performance). @lottieblacklock

A scouse comic and actress with an erratic energy, quoted by her parents as “the biggest mistake of our lives” (2nd year Comedy Writing and Performance).

A long-time admirer of comedy now, in a rare moment of bravery, putting those years of germaphobia, anxiety and D&D to good use (3rd year Media and Performance).

A stand-up who lives life to the full, inspired by Grandad’s motto “you don’t need a parachute to go skydiving, but you do need a parachute to go skydiving twice (2nd year Comedy Writing and Performance).

A stand-up with dead-pan delivery and self-deprecating humour, Will left Norfolk for Salford to pursue performance, and is ready to continue his journey up North to Edinburgh (2nd year Comedy Writing and Performance).

You can follow SalFUNNI on Twitter and Instagram @SalFUNNI to find out more about them and their Edinburgh adventure.

HOW TO SUPPORT SALFUNNI:

You can attend their gig on the 17th May at 7:30pm at the Frog and Bucket for FREE! SalFUNNI will be performing as part of the Comedy Writing and Performance Showcase with their Edinburgh material, so you can watch an exclusive preview before the cohort head up to the Fringe. More info here.

Taking a show to the Edinburgh Fringe is notoriously an expensive endeavour, fraught with financial risk. With SalFUNNI, the cohort get to experience the thrills of the festival, and the journey of marketing, producing and performing a show without breaking the bank and with a solid support system from the University of Salford.

SalFUNNI have been lucky enough to have secured 3/4 of their Edinburgh adventure fund from the university, and you can help them to complete the last leg. All money given in support to the project will go directly towards keeping a roof over the comics’ heads during their Edinburgh run.

The SalFUNNI team have come up with some exciting rewards for those who support their adventure – including a screaming shout-out from the top of Arthur’s Seat, and having your own joke performed during their show! You can support SalFUNNI here.

IF YOU WANT A SLICE OF THE ACTION, YOU CAN WATCH SALFUNNI’S SHOW AT HOLLYWOOD, CITY CAFÉ (EH1 1QR), 7:05PM FROM THE 4TH TO THE 14TH OF AUGUST 2022, AS PART OF THE FREE FESTIVAL!
