55 performers and technicians, under the guidance of 4 guest artists, will work together to make live performance for our annual TaPP Fest LIVE festival.
New Adelphi Theatre welcomes artists Rachel McMurray, Mole Wetherell, Ann Nelson and Vita Fox as they each make new work with Theatre and Technical Theatre students.
TaPP Fest LIVE’s guest artists have selected play texts, or devising approaches, that our student performers and technicians have experimented with. Expect to see a giant hotdog, 9 bears in a room full of children, and fast paced multi-rolling.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to our theatre and hope you’ll join us in supporting our students in their first public performance of the year.
It is with great pride that we continue to dedicate TaPP Fest Live to the lasting memory of our friend and graduate Liam Byrne. Liam graduated from Salford in 2015 with a first-class honours degree in Contemporary Performance.
Through the generosity of Liam’s family, the In Memory of Liam Byrne: A Maker of Extraordinary Things award marks the ambitious work Liam used to make. Students are eligible to apply for the award to support their growing practice.
Admission: Pay What You Can
Pay What You Can is an ‘honesty box’ for the theatre. We and the artists will continue to programme and produce high quality events and ask you to pay what you can afford.
As a guide, for those in full time employment we would appreciate you paying between £5 and £15. We also understand people’s income can be precarious, hence the free and lower price options. All revenue from ticket sales for events at New Adelphi Theatre will always go back to support professional artists, through residencies, commissions, touring work or for more bespoke projects where the student experience is enhanced through co-creation with arts professionals. We thank you for all your continued support.

Information regarding shows happening at the University of Salford:
Please note that face coverings are required in all indoor spaces. We ask that you wear a face covering at all times (unless exempt) when in the building and when in the theatre watching the performance.
We are working to a 1m+ policy in our spaces, so we ask that you keep a social distance when in the building, waiting at box office and in the performance space. Seating in the performance space is socially distanced.
Please allow time to check in early, as extra time will be needed to implement these distancing measures and ensure everyone’s safety.

Where would we be without numbers? We sometimes make the mistake of seeing ‘maths’ as a scary subject, even when we are very little. But, in reality, numbers are all around us. Three meals a day, two shoes, one jacket. Three blind mice, two ugly stepsisters, one big bad wolf. Wherever you look and wherever you go there are always numbers to be found. This exciting, visual, and physical performance uses a combination of music, play, and curiosity in order to explore the joy of numbers and their occurrence in everyday life.
3-6-9 by Babble Lab sits somewhere between drama, dance, and play. This is thanks, in part, to the vision of its director Mole Wetherell of Reckless Sleepers. As a company, Reckless Sleepers created their first ever performance for children It’s Hot, It’s Not back in 2019, which will be presented at The Lowry in March 2022.
The Government Inspector

A small town in Russia is thrown into a frenzy with news of an impending visit by a government inspector. The Mayor has been extorting bribes for years; the doctor doesn’t understand a word of Russian; the Judge runs the court like a hunting lodge where the accused are in danger of trampling on goose or two and the teachers are out of control. Can they clean up and cover up before their ill-gotten gains and misdeeds are discovered? How much hush money will it take to win the inspector’s silence?
Love and Information

Someone sneezes. Someone can’t get a signal. Someone shares a secret. Someone won’t answer the door. Someone’s not ready to talk. Someone is her brother’s mother. Someone hates irrational numbers. Someone told the police. Someone needs to know more. Someone’s never felt like this before.
Outside the Block presents Love & Information, by Caryl Churchill. The play acts as an astute observation of contemporary society.
The play shows isolated moments in the lives of hundreds of undefined characters. The company has devised and decided on all aspects of the play, with the only given note being lines and titles. In these vignettes, the piece forces us to question
The play questions how we exist in a society overloaded with information. How and what does this do to the relationships we have and form?
With moments of wit, wisdom and genuine honesty, this production of Love and Information offers us a unique snapshot into the world that we live in.
The Wonderful World of Dissocia
