LANDSHIP – SALFORD PREMIERE!
Passchendaele 1917. At the spear head of a British offensive, the crew of Battle Tank F41 ‘Fray Bentos’ become bogged down in a shell crater in no-man’s-land, yards from the German front line. Over the course of sixty gruelling hours, Captain Donald Richardson struggles to maintain discipline, as the crew come under repeated attack from a fiendish enemy that seemingly appear from nowhere in the dense smog that hangs across the battlefield. Stranded and slowly sinking into the fetid mud of Passchendaele, the crew fight for their lives against an insidious and determined enemy.
LANDSHIP, starring current University of Salford MA Screen Acting student Vin Hawke, was made for £320,000 and has proven that success is accessible to those who dare to believe and take appropriate action; a sentiment and mentality similar to the themes within the film. The world premiere at this year’s Raindance Film Festival on 20th June sold out immediately, with two additional screenings also selling out within 48 hours – unprecedented for the festival – picking up 3 nominations along the way:
- Best UK Feature
- Best Director of a UK Feature (Callum Burn)
- Best Performance in a UK Feature (Vin Hawke)
Winners announced Friday June 26th!
This screening of LANDSHIP will be a celebration and promotion of not just the feature film, but the work of the students across University of Salford film and acting courses. Both the matinee and the evening screening of LANDSHIP will be preceded by selected short films made by University of Salford students to showcase the skill and vision that the university endeavours to nurture.
Please note there will be a Q+A after the screening.
